IV Therapy

IV Therapy Pre-treatment Instructions
- Hydration
- Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours leading up to your IV treatment to help make vein access easier and reduce the risk of dizziness or fainting.
- Light Meal
- Eat a light meal or snack about one to two hours before your appointment. Avoid very heavy or greasy meals, as they may cause nausea.
- Medications and Supplements
- Continue your regular medications unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.
- Bring a complete list of all prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and dietary supplements to inform the clinic staff.
- Clothing
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably with sleeves that can be easily rolled up to give access to the veins in your arm.
- Allergies and Health Changes
- Inform your healthcare provider of any changes in your health status since your last visit (e.g., fever, illness, or infection).
- Disclose any known allergies or adverse reactions to medications or supplements, especially those related to IV components.
- Lifestyle Factors
- Avoid alcohol or recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before treatment.
- Limit or avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks) on the day of treatment, if possible, as it may cause dehydration.
- Arrival
- Arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork or checks before your appointment time.
IV Therapy Post-treatment Instructions
- Monitoring the Injection Site
- Keep the injection site clean and dry for at least 24 hours.
- Check for redness, swelling, pain, or warmth at the site. If you notice any signs of infection or other unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
- Hydration and Nutrition
- Continue to drink plenty of water after your IV therapy. Proper hydration helps support kidney function and assists in flushing out any metabolites.
- Resume a balanced diet to ensure optimal nutrient absorption and overall health.
- Activity Level
- Light to moderate physical activity is generally acceptable unless instructed otherwise.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least 24 hours if you experience weakness, dizziness, or fatigue.
- Rest and Recovery
- Listen to your body and rest if you feel tired. Some patients experience an energy boost post-infusion, while others may feel slightly fatigued.
- If you experience persistent nausea, dizziness, or headache, contact your healthcare provider.
- Medication and Supplements
- Continue your regular medication schedule unless directed otherwise.
- Inform your provider of any unusual reactions (e.g., rash, headache, extreme fatigue) that may indicate an adverse response to the IV treatment.
- Follow-Up Appointments
- Schedule and attend any recommended follow-up appointments or lab tests to monitor your progress and response to the treatment.

- Severe swelling, redness, or pain at the infusion site.
