IV Therapy

IV Therapy Menu

IV Therapy Pre-treatment Instructions

  1. Hydration
    • Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours leading up to your IV treatment to help make vein access easier and reduce the risk of dizziness or fainting.
  2. Light Meal
    • Eat a light meal or snack about one to two hours before your appointment. Avoid very heavy or greasy meals, as they may cause nausea.
  3. Medications and Supplements
    • Continue your regular medications unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.
    • Bring a complete list of all prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and dietary supplements to inform the clinic staff.
  4. Clothing
    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably with sleeves that can be easily rolled up to give access to the veins in your arm.
  5. Allergies and Health Changes
    • Inform your healthcare provider of any changes in your health status since your last visit (e.g., fever, illness, or infection).
    • Disclose any known allergies or adverse reactions to medications or supplements, especially those related to IV components.
  6. Lifestyle Factors
    • Avoid alcohol or recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before treatment.
    • Limit or avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks) on the day of treatment, if possible, as it may cause dehydration.
  7. Arrival
    • Arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork or checks before your appointment time.

IV Therapy Post-treatment Instructions

  1. Monitoring the Injection Site
    • Keep the injection site clean and dry for at least 24 hours.
    • Check for redness, swelling, pain, or warmth at the site. If you notice any signs of infection or other unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
  2. Hydration and Nutrition
    • Continue to drink plenty of water after your IV therapy. Proper hydration helps support kidney function and assists in flushing out any metabolites.
    • Resume a balanced diet to ensure optimal nutrient absorption and overall health.
  3. Activity Level
    • Light to moderate physical activity is generally acceptable unless instructed otherwise.
    • Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least 24 hours if you experience weakness, dizziness, or fatigue.
  4. Rest and Recovery
    • Listen to your body and rest if you feel tired. Some patients experience an energy boost post-infusion, while others may feel slightly fatigued.
    • If you experience persistent nausea, dizziness, or headache, contact your healthcare provider.
  5. Medication and Supplements
    • Continue your regular medication schedule unless directed otherwise.
    • Inform your provider of any unusual reactions (e.g., rash, headache, extreme fatigue) that may indicate an adverse response to the IV treatment.
  6. Follow-Up Appointments
    • Schedule and attend any recommended follow-up appointments or lab tests to monitor your progress and response to the treatment.
  7. When to Seek Medical Attention
    • Contact your healthcare provider or seek immediate medical care if you experience:
      • Severe swelling, redness, or pain at the infusion site.
      • Signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., hives, difficulty breathing).
      • Persistent or worsening symptoms such as fever, chills, or lightheadedness.
