Chemical Peels
Overview
A chemical peel is an effective medical skincare treatment that can improve the appearance of the skin by destroying and removing damaged and dead skin cells from the visible layer of the skin. At Fort Worth MedSpa, skincare professionals use a variety of chemical peels to treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne, acne scars, uneven skin tone, sun spots, pigmentation problems, and rough texture. The technicians of the MedSpa will analyze the patient’s skin and discuss their concerns and goals before recommending a chemical peel treatment. Fort Worth Plastic Surgery has a variety of chemical peel strengths and brands to ensure that every patient receives a customized treatment that gives their best results.
Types of Chemical Peels
SkinMedica Peel
SkinMedica Peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes.
ZO Controlled Depth Peel®
The ZO Controlled Depth Peel (CDP) is a highly advanced, in office chemical peel that can restore healthier and more beautiful skin to the face, neck, chest, and hands of our patients. The CDP can effectively improve a wide variety of skin conditions, such as uneven pigmentation, shallow acne scars, sun-damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and freckling. Although some results may be seen right away, patients will continue to experience gradual improvements up to 30 – 40 days following treatment, as new healthy and vibrant skin replaces the old. During this time, the texture of the skin will become firmer, cleaner, smoother, healthier and younger-looking. The ZO Controlled Depth Peel provides maximum skin tightening benefits. It is safe and can be customized to each patient’s unique skin care needs and the current condition of their skin. For example, patients who wish to remove minor skin blemishes and improve skin tone may require 1 – 2 layers of the CDP. To treat moderate to severe skin damage, our experienced skin care providers may recommend all 3 layers and a series of multiple CDP sessions to correct damage over several months.
Obagi Radiance Peel®
Used to improve a range of skin types and skin concerns, including photodamage, the Obagi Radiance Peel is a salicylic acid-based facial chemical peel that provides tighter, smoother, brighter-looking skin instantly. With little to no downtime, this peel exfoliates and helps improve texture, tone, and overall complexion after just one use, or reveals your best results from a series of 4 – 6 peels.
During/After Procedure
The process for applying a chemical peel is generally the same for each type, but will vary slightly depending on the level of solution being applied. Anesthesia is not used during this procedure. However, it may be considered for Phenol peels. First, the face is thoroughly cleaned. Then, the chemical agent is then brushed on to the skin. Patients will experience some mild stinging at this time. The face is then washed and a cool saline compress is applied to act as a neutralizer. Patients will need to wear sunscreen and limit sun exposure as much as possible.
